I always knew I wanted to tattoo ever since a young age. Growing up in Southern California surrounded by surfers and skaters old and young. I quickly realized, the tattooed people I met were a lot cooler and nicer than the ones who weren’t. Could’ve just been Orange County though haha! I also had the luck of my dad being a pro surf and skate photographer, so I got to meet tons of pros off the board and really was enticed by the culture. Skate and surf all day and make art when you’re not. Life doesn’t get much better than that. So that’s what I did, ditched school to skate and when I did go to school I was drawing in class, much less paying attention. But then you graduate and realize you gotta make it in the real world somehow. So I bounced around from job to job, skating in my free time, just paying bills to survive and realized this isn’t actually the life. I had some family in Utah so I moved up here and did the same thing job to job just living to exist. One day it hit me, if I want something I have to go get it, it’s not just going to come to me. So I saved up some money, quit my job and searched for an apprenticeship. It took a good 6 months going shop to shop getting turned down, going back with more art they haven’t seen yet, them sending me home to do more color, more this more that. Finally I had about $500 bucks left to my name I got into an apprenticeship. Worked my way up from mopping floors and drawing all day to taking simple walk ins, to then getting a little following and learning more and more. I never had a direct mentor, I had a couple good dudes around me to show me simple things. I slowly had to learn and perfect the craft. Now I’m in my 4th year of tattooing, and I now feel this is just the beginning, I’m just starting to hit my stride. I do an online fine art class and paint in my free time. If I’m not doing that I hang out with my cool ass wife and we do art together or go out on the town! Life is good. Of course it has its ups n downs but what would life be if we didn’t have the bad to contrast the good. I’m excited to be with Matt and the people at Black Crow Studios. I’m excited to grow and work my ass of to be the tattooer and person that I strive to be. And most of all I’m excited to tattoo you, and add to your collection of memories on the skin. Book a consult and let’s make some cool art!
