Matt morrison

My name is Matthew Morrison, I was born in fort Defiance AZ, on the Navajo Reservation, but have lived most of my life in Utah. Like most I started drawing at a very young age unlike most I never stopped. I grew up around a lot of great artist in the family and my older brother was one of the most influential as a lot of older brothers are to there younger siblings. It almost became a competition subconsciously to outdraw or out paint him. Especially going into the same art class in high school and having my art teacher recognize my last name from my Brother, Aunt, and grandmother all being great artists. I also got a lot of my earlier influence from all the art I saw as a skateboarder growing up. I always loved the art I saw on all the skateboards, shirts, street art, skate mags etc. I remember always thinking tattoos were so Badass whether someone just enjoyed art, or wanted to tell a story of their heritage or their own life for all to see I was infatuated. I remember going to a tattoo convention with my brother and seeing a lot of different styles that are all amazing. But it wasn’t until I saw work from artists like Bob Tyrell and Oak Adams that I knew I wanted to become a professional tattooist. I would say my main style is pretty much anything that could be considered black and grey realism. But I also love adding other elements making it unique whether its surrealism or melding different styles with realism. I’ve always loved Black and Grey Realism on paper, and canvas, But was then determined to Master it on skin. I will always be striving to grow as an artist, tattooist, and as a person. My hope is to create an environment at Black Crow that will continually inspire those around me to do the same. When I’m not tattooing I will be with my biggest source of motivation and inspiration my wife and kids trying to be the best father and husband I possibly can be!
